DJ R.O.B. is the music of Las Vegas. He runs the show.

As the Music Director of N9NE Group, he coordinates a roster of 15 DJs, artists who keep the crowd jumping at Vegas hotspots like Rain, Moon, Ghostbar, and the Playboy Club.

Clubplanet: What's the biggest misconception about Vegas DJs?

That they're heavy party animals and girl chasers. In Vegas right now, DJs are getting agents. It’s becoming more of business and a future career.

As far as the "buzz factor" goes, how big is the DJ name in Vegas?

Back in the day, the DJ name drew a lot of people to clubs in Vegas. Nowadays, the venues are superseding the DJ name. People want to go see Rain because they have seen it on the E! Channel or Real World.

You’ve worked with some of the biggest celebrities in the industry. How difficult is it to satisfy the clients?

There was one incident when the Hilton parents at Rain went on stage, asking the DJ for 70s disco songs. Usually we oblige if it’s not out of format, but there are times when the manger has to come up to the stage and ask them to let the DJ do their thing.

Where do you see Vegas nightlife going in the future?

It’s just like Disneyland. When a new ride opens up, everyone wants to check out that ride first, but then they enjoy the rest of the park for that day. Even though there is competition, I think there is enough for everyone, and it’s just going to get better.
