Body Language Decoded
-By Victoria Shelor
There once was a time when subtlety ruled over boldness. Nowadays a woman will often let you know flat out if she’s interested or if you should get lost. But where it still exists, there’s an art to a woman’s subtlety.
On the average, men score a C+ at reading body language. And since most guys’ signals are about as understated as a pair of crotchless panties, they’re going to need a little help deciphering the opposite sex. Men, pay close attention.
Hungry Eyes
Eye contact is one of the most important signs of non-verbal communication. When someone piques our interest, we raise our eyebrows slightly, widen our eyes and look a bit longer than usual. If interested, a woman will hold that gaze just long enough until you notice, just before the creep factor sets in.
The Leaning Jowl
As soon as you strike up a conversation, the position of a woman’s head and face should indicate whether or not there is an interest in you or your conversation. She digs your bait if she tilts her head to one side and raises her lower jaw toward you. This position says she is actually listening to you (gasp!) and is engaged in the conversation.
Hips Don’t Lie
If you’re sitting at a bar and just her head turns whenever you say something, it’s not a good sign. If she’s interested, her whole body pivots with her hips facing you to show that her focus is on you, instead of the hot rugby players on the TV behind you.
Good Humor
If she laughs at your lame jokes, she definitely likes you. Bonus points if she smiles with her teeth showing and laughs with you.
Come On Now Touch Me, Baby
Simple gestures like touching your leg or putting her hand on your forearm or shoulder during a conversation are sure signs she’s into you. And getting her to touch you is half the battle.
Talk Isn’t Always Cheap
A final foolproof sign she is interested is that she keeps the conversation going. She doesn’t give you one word answers, but instead listens to you and responds thoughtfully, furthering the conversation by wanting to know more about yourself and what you have to say.
Well, there you have it. Want your new love interest to stick around? You’re on your own with that one.
